Growing consumer health concerns have created a marketing opportunity for wines with significantly less alcohol. There is strong research evidence that a new category of so-called “Lifestyle Wines” with 8-12% alcohol has great market potential provided the wine is perceived to be of high quality. That’s the hard part — because many wines lose their harmony and balance when 30-40% of their alcohol is removed.
